‘Nottingham Forest to exact revenge on Tottenham’ after £30m+ transfer news

Nottingham Forest could have the last laugh against Tottenham following recent transfer news.

Relations between the two clubs are tense after Forest launched a complaint over Spurs’ pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White.

The Midlands outfit argues they did not permit Tottenham to speak to their player and have questioned their knowledge of his £60million release clause.

As a result, Forest will welcome the chance to hit back against the North London club over the coming days.

Forest have made Jacob Ramsey their number one target

As reported by The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath on Tuesday (15 July), Forest have made Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey a primary summer target.

When previously linked with clubs, a potential fee has been upwards of £30m. Tottenham are one of those clubs who have been linked with a move for Ramsey.

However, it seems as though Forest are ready to beat Tottenham to the punch.

This could be seen as an indirect act of revenge from the Reds against Spurs, given the Lilywhites’ previous interest in Ramsey. Having both Ramsey and Gibbs-White in their midfield would have been lethal, and Forest must be aware of this.

Therefore, Nuno Espírito Santo will no doubt be glad to get one over his former side by completing the signing of Ramsey this summer.

Tottenham could still beat Forest to Ramsey

Forest may have had a good season in the Premier League, but Tottenham still have UEFA Champions League football to offer.

Indeed, the Europa League win means that Spurs will compete in the competition next season despite a 17th-place league finish. As a result, the Lilywhites could lure Ramsey with the promise of competing on the biggest stage European football has to offer.

This would be a brilliant signing for Spurs, especially if they can get a deal for Gibbs-White over the line too. Thomas Frank could position Ramsey as an advanced eight on the left, while Gibbs-White would likely start as the number ten.

While this could affect James Maddison’s place in the team, Ramsey is too good an opportunity to pass up on.
