Mourinho now wants to sign Leicester star, official talks held amid Tottenham twist

Jose Mourinho’s attentions have now turned to Leicester City as the former Tottenham boss remains active in the transfer window.

It is fair to say that the Portuguese head coach wasn’t truly given a fair shot at the Spurs job, being sacked right before the Carabao Cup final in 2021.

The 62-year-old now finds himself at Fenerbahce, who are looking to be active this summer, with eyes on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent weeks.

With that being said, it appears that now a move elsewhere at Leicester is in the pipeline for the Turkish giants as the window moves deeper.

Mourinho attentions turn to Leicester at Fenerbahce

The Super Lig outfit have already made a splash in the market in recent weeks with the signing of former Aston Villa starlet Jhon Duran and Archie Brown from Gent.

It doesn’t appear that their business is done there, however, as interest continues to build with an exit-bound Lilywhites ace.

This has seen Yves Bissouma be central to Fenerbahce rumours as the Mali international looks destined for a North London departure ahead of the new season.

With that being said, Turkish outlet Sabah has now reported (18 July, page 17) that Spurs’ £17.3million asking price is hampering any potential deal.

As a result, Mourinho and Co. have turned their attentions to a potential deal for Wilfred Ndidi after Leicester City’s relegation.

The Nigeria international could to £9m, due to his King Power release clause, which would represent a plan B option for a player the ex-Chelsea boss is said to be keen on signing.

Tottenham need to re-think Bissouma strategy

It does feel as if the Malian’s race is run in N17, having failed to truly make a splash since signing from Brighton back in 2022.

As a result, an exit could prove to make sense for all parties, but the Lilywhites may have to now reduce their asking price for the 28-year-old.

Having already missed out on Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid, the North London club need to move quickly to help complete a much-needed midfield renovation.
