Mikey Moore set for quick Tottenham exit as Thomas Frank snub emerges

Mikey Moore’s immediate future looks to be away from Tottenham.

Moore emerged as the poster boy for Tottenham’s academy as he broke into the first team last season and went on to score his first senior goal for the Lilywhites in the UEFA Europa League.

The 17-year-old has been touted for a bright future at Spurs, but would have been worried for his prospective game time following the permanent arrivals of Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus.

He would have wanted to seek assurances from his manager, but he is now set to leave after Thomas Frank made his position clear.

Moore left out of Asia pre-season tour to seek loan move

Tottenham are travelling to Asia to partake in two friendlies against Arsenal (31 July) in Hong Kong and Newcastle (3 August) in Seoul as they continue their pre-season preparations.

All the focus will be on whether the games will be Son Heung-Min’s swansong, with the Spurs legend expected to decide on his future thereafter.

Frank, however, will see the fixtures as an opportunity to coach his team further and make an assessment of his players, and announced his travelling squad on Sunday (27 July).

There were some notable absentees, including Moore. Alasdair Gold later revealed that the England Under-19 international was permitted to stay behind to explore potential loan moves this summer.

Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett did not travel for the same reason, while Destiny Udogie, Kota Takai, and Manor Solomon all remained at Hotspur Way to recover from their injuries.

Moore’s camp were already pushing for a loan move as the teenager feels he would benefit from more minutes than would likely be afforded to him, especially with the step up to the UEFA Champions League.

Loan move right call for Moore

Tottenham fans will no doubt be disappointed that their most promising academy player since Harry Kane will not feature for the Lilywhites next season.

However, the decision is justified, as Moore’s trajectory was hindered by an illness that kept the youngster out of action over the winter period, robbing him of likely minutes.

He also picked up an unfortunate injury in the UEFA European Under-19 Championships after captaining the side in their opening fixture, which ended his involvement.

The talented winger has shown flashes of his brilliance in the few games in which he featured for Spurs, but notably lacked physicality, especially against Premier League opposition.

Should Moore select the right opportunity where he gains significant experience against senior players, it will put him in good standing to build on his progress at Tottenham when he returns.
