Mathys Tel sends message as emotional transfer farewell sent

Tottenham are undergoing a relatively calm period after an incredibly dramatic start to the summer.

The Lilywhites have made a handful of signings, although none of them have been particularly eye-catching yet.

Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel have both turned their Spurs loan deals into permanent ones, while Kota Takai has arrived for £5million.

Tel signed from Bayern Munich for £29.8million, and the forward has made contact over an imminent departure.

Tel sends message after transfer goodbye

Tel was a prominent feature for France during the UEFA European Under‑21 Championship, making four starts.

The 20-year-old bagged two goals during the tournament as his country was knocked out by Germany in the semi-finals.

During his short-term loan last season, it was difficult to judge the Frenchman due to the Lilywhites’ woeful league form.

Tel made 13 appearances and notched three goal contributions, but did not exactly light up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Now, he is anticipating the arrival of one of his international teammates in the Premier League.

That is because Thierno Barry has posted an emotional farewell to Villarreal on his Instagram account (9 July).

Barry is on the verge of joining Everton in what is expected to be a £27.5million deal for the forward.

The 22-year-old netted 11 league goals for the Yellow Submarine last campaign, but is now making the move to the North West of England.

Tel is one of a host of people to like the post, also writing: “Thank you, Barry.”

Tel and Barry in the Premier League, but how will they fare?

While Tottenham supporters have already seen plenty of Tel, this is a new dawn for the North London club.

His involvement will be down to Thomas Frank, who will approach the new season with an open mind on his squad.

Tel will face stiff competition for a place in Frank’s side and will need to impress in training over the coming weeks.

However, he is a player with vast potential and will surely be utilised in some capacity by the Dane.

As for Barry, he will be arriving on Merseyside expecting to be the main man up front for David Moyes.

Moyes does already have options in attack with Iliman Ndiaye and Beto, although the latter has been linked with an exit this summer.

While 11 league goals were a respectable figure for Barry last season, he will be striving to up that tally at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
