Man City set asking price for Tottenham target Savinho as stance on selling him revealed

Tottenham are in negotiations to sign Manchester City winger Savinho, with Thomas Frank keen to add further creativity to his options.

Spurs have already signed Mohammed Kudus this summer, but following the long-term injury to James Maddison and the departure of Son Heung-min, decision-makers at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have been forced to dip back into the market.

Savinho has emerged as the Lilywhites’ top target, with the Brazilian boasting impressive creative numbers in his first season in the Premier League.

Spurs have also welcomed the signing of Joao Palhinha this summer, with the midfielder arriving on loan from Bayern Munich.

Manchester City set £45m asking price for Savinho

Savinho, who has been compared to Vinicius Jr, has been a part of the City Football Group for several years, after sister club Troyes bought the winger from Brazilian club Aletico Mineiro in 2022.

The 21-year-old was, and still is, the French club’s record signing, but remarkably, never made an appearance for them.

Instead, he was loaned out for two consecutive seasons and the second of which, at La Liga club Girona, saw Savinho explode into form.

The winger scored nine goals and provided 10 assists, as the Spanish club fell short of a historic first top-flight league title.

Savinho’s impressive form saw Manchester City choose to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League, where he enjoyed a positive first campaign.

But the Citizens could be willing to sell the forward already, with a deal possible with Spurs, according to Ben Jacobs (11 August).

Manchester City will only sanction a sale of Savinho if he asks to leave the club, with their preference being to keep the 21-year-old.

A possible move would cost over £45million, with the winger having four more years left on his deal at The Etihad.

Where would Savinho play for Spurs?

Savinho is capable of playing across the front line, having often been deployed on the right wing for Manchester City last season.

But the Brazilian enjoyed his best form when on the left at Girona, and would likely play a similar role for Frank’s side.

That would leave competition on the right between Kudus and Brennan Johnson, but the former could well be moved into the middle in Maddison’s absence.
