Luka Vuskovic transfer fight begins at Tottenham as top Premier League clubs queue already
Transfer interest is mounting for Tottenham wonderkid Luka Vuskovic.
After signing from Hadjuk Split last summer, Tottenham loaned out Vuskovic to Hamburg for the 2025-26 season.
Teenage centre-back Vuskovic is highly-rated at Tottenham, with the north London club hoping he can play a big part in their future.
Amid speculation that Tottenham star Micky van de Ven could leave the club, the 18-year-old’s importance might grow by the day.
Moreover, fellow Tottenham centre-back Cristian Romero has been linked with a transfer exit. Now, an update has emerged on Vuskovic’s situation.
Tottenham may defy Luka Vuskovic’s long-held dream
Earlier this month, Vuskovic expressed his desire to play with older brother Mario at Hamburg. The only problem is that the 24-year-old is currently serving a doping ban that runs until November 2026.
That means, if the two defenders are to be teammates, Tottenham would have to agree to extend his loan to next season as well.
But according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, that is not going to happen. He states that Tottenham want to bring him back this summer ahead of next season.
Plettenberg adds that “top clubs” in England are keen on the young Croatia international, whose contract at Spurs runs until 2030.
The 6ft 4in defender is having an impressive season in the Bundesliga, with Vuskovic scoring three goals in 18 appearances for Hamburg.
The former Westerlo loanee has started in all but one of those games, with the Croatian being among the best centre-backs in the division for duel success rates.
If Romero or Van de Ven are sold in 2026, Vuskovic may have a chance of being a key player in Tottenham’s defence.

Will things change for Vuskovic if Tottenham sack Thomas Frank?
With the Premier League season beyond the halfway point, Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is fighting to save his job.
The Dane has one of the worst records as a Tottenham manager this century, with Spurs currently sitting 14th in the Premier League – just eight points above the relegation zone.
Ferencvaros manager Robbie Keane is among the favourites to replace Frank, who only joined Tottenham from Brentford last summer.

Ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also in the running to return to the north London team but only after this summer’s 2026 World Cup, with the Argentine currently managing the United States men’s national team.
If Frank is sacked, what does this mean for Vuskovic? Managers do have their preferences when it comes to players. Moreover, they may want the club to sign individuals they have worked with before or taken a shining to.
One coach’s favourite can be bombed out of the team under a different manager. But as Vuskovic is admired by Tottenham as a whole, Spurs will still want to keep him.
However, things may change if a new manager is sworn in at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
