Levy risks another ‘transfer humiliation’ after Evan Ndicka to Tottenham news

Tottenham’s nightmare start to the summer transfer window could now get worse for Daniel Levy.

The Lilywhites believed they had struck gold when they agreed a £21million buy-option for Johnny Cardoso as part of the agreement which saw Giovani Lo Celso join Real Betis.

However, the midfielder is understood to have rejected Tottenham to join Atletico Madrid instead.

Cardoso is not the first and will not be the only player who has turned down a move to Spurs this summer.

Evan Ndicka ‘to snub Tottenham for Manchester United’

It was believed Angel Gomes could join Tottenham after the Lilywhites qualified for the UEFA Champions League by winning the UEFA Europa League.

However, like Cardoso, Gomes prefers his current league and will reportedly join Marseille as a free agent, once his contract with Lille expires on 30 June.

Bryan Mbeumo is a player who has also been linked with Tottenham.

However, as reported by David Ornstein (2 June), the Brentford forward wants to join Manchester United this summer.

Levy deliberated for several weeks before Tottenham confirmed their decision to dismiss Ange Postecoglou. The delayed decision over Postecoglou has limited transfer movement and could now have gifted another target to United in another humiliation for Levy.

As reported by RMC Sport on X (8 June), AS Roma defender has caught the eye of Tottenham.

However, United are also in the race. Therefore, Tottenham could miss out on his signing if they do not figure out their managerial situation soon.

Ruben Amorim may have been bested by Spurs in the Europa League final, but he can offer Ndicka a plan that Tottenham cannot without a manager.

Tottenham must appoint Thomas Frank soon

It has been widely reported that Thomas Frank has held talks about the now-vacant managerial role at Spurs and has emerged as the favourite in recent days.

If the Brentford boss is the chosen one, Tottenham will need to appoint him soon.

The 51-year-old could convince Mbeumo to snub Man United in favour of joining the North London club this season. However, even if Mbeumo does end up at Old Trafford, Tottenham need a manager to avoid missing out on other potential transfers, such as Ndicka.
