Levy mooted to make £35m profit on Tottenham deal in fresh transfer claim
Tottenham fans are becoming frustrated at the lack of activity in the transfer window, as criticism of Daniel Levy continues to grow.
Spurs have made the loan signings of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel permanent, but despite being linked with several level-raising additions, the Lilywhites are yet to bring in any fresh faces.
Tottenham are set to sign young Japan international centre-back Kōta Takai, and the 20-year-old is expected to be part of the first team next season.
However, fans have questioned the deal, and former Premier League star Darren Ambrose has highlighted what he believes Levy’s plan is for the defender.
Ambrose slams Levy’s ambition over Takai deal
For years, criticism of Levy has highlighted the lack of sporting ambition as finances are prioritised, and Ambrose believes this is set to continue as Spurs close in on the signing of Takai.
Speaking on talkSPORT (27 June), Ambrose claimed that Levy’s intention with Takai, just as it is with other players, is to make a significant profit long-term.

“I mean, he could come good,” Ambrose stated of Takai.
“He’s [Levy] only signing these players though, as he wants them to come good, just so he can sell them on for £30-40million.”
The fee for Takai is expected to be around £5m. Therefore, Spurs would make a significant £35m profit if the centre-back eventually leaves for £40m. However, fan frustration will continue.
Spurs need level-raising signings
Spurs have signed several promising young talents in recent years, with big-money deals for Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray sanctioned.
There are other top talents within the club, including Mikey Moore. However, Tottenham risk stunting these players’ development if they cannot surround them with quality.
Gray especially suffered last season as he was forced to play out of position as a result of a lack of cover at centre-back. Therefore, level-raising signings who can make an instant impact will be necessary if Thomas Frank is to succeed.
