‘Levy can make huge Tottenham statement’ after Rodrygo exit news at Real Madrid
Daniel Levy has a chance to make a statement at Tottenham after a quiet start to the transfer window.
Levy offered the Lilywhites a little bit of hope for a new era when he surprisingly conducted an upbeat interview alongside Vinai Venkatesham.
The 63-year-old stated he was fully focused on the first team and implied that he would fully support Thomas Frank in the transfer window.
This has not yet come to pass, as familiar patterns of indecisiveness and unwillingness to pay premium transfer fees have emerged.
However, Levy has been presented with a golden opportunity to change the tide with the latest development emerging from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid open to selling Rodrygo this summer
Tottenham have been stung multiple times by rival Premier League clubs stealing players from their grasp, famously losing out on Willian to Chelsea at the last minute.
Spurs have also been guilty of pulling off a late turnaround, as Frank was a big supporter of Archie Gray and looked to bring him over to Brentford before the North Londoners stole in on the deal.
Levy now has the opportunity to make a huge statement at Tottenham, as The Athletic reports (3 July) that Real Madrid are open to selling Rodrygo this summer.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes Played |
2024/25 | 53 | 14 | 11 | 3,448′ |
2023/24 | 51 | 17 | 9 | 3,707′ |
2022/23 | 57 | 19 | 11 | 3,853′ |
The Brazilian forward has been a pivotal part of the Spanish club’s success under Carlo Ancelotti in recent years, especially in the UEFA Champions League, though cracks had started to appear.
The Italian manager was replaced by Xabi Alonso this summer, who is not particularly keen on the 24-year-old and is willing to let him leave.
Arsenal are one of the clubs linked with Rodrygo, and Levy could look to get one over on Spurs’ bitter rivals and steal in for the deal as an apt reply to the Gunners hijacking Tottenham’s approach for Eberechi Eze.

Rodrygo makes sense for Spurs
Tottenham have had good relations with Real Madrid, having sold Gareth Bale and Luka Modrić to the Spanish giants in recent years, while Rafael Van der Vaart went in the opposite direction.
Levy could use those ties to bring in Rodrygo, who would be an exciting signing for the Lilywhites.
At 24 years old, he is the perfect age profile as he still has room to grow but would bring in a wealth of Champions League experience and an element of stardust that would lift the Spurs dressing room.
Rodrygo is excellent at operating in tight spaces and has an impressive goal return, and can play either on the wing or as a second striker, which fills the role that Frank has been desperately looking for this summer.
