Leicester City ‘eye Tottenham player’ as Jamie Vardy successor

Leicester City have set their sights on a Tottenham player as a possible successor to ageing striker Jamie Vardy.

Vardy is an all-time great at Leicester, having scored just short of 200 goals for the club and won two major competitions.

However, the striker is now 38 and it has become apparent a replacement is required at the King Power Stadium after an abysmal Premier League campaign for Leicester, even if they did beat Tottenham.

And it may well be that Leicester try to sign a player on the books at Spurs, although it all depends on what division they are playing in next season.

Leicester set sights on Tottenham forward Manor Solomon

Ben Jacobs reports via GiveMeSport [26 February] that Solomon is being discussed by Leicester chiefs as a possible target after starring on loan at Leeds United this season.

However, a move will only be feasible if Leicester somehow stay in the Premier League this season as Solomon is a man in demand.

Indeed, Jacobs adds that Everton are also interested in the Israel international, while Leeds would love to make his loan deal permanent in the summer.

It means a possible bidding war could be on the cards for Solomon should Spurs wish to cash in, which is likely to be the case.

Jacobs specifically mentions that a succession plan for Vardy will now be in place at Leicester.

Solomon stars for Leeds United

Leeds are heading back to the Premier League and that is in no small part to the form of Solomon this season.

The 25-year-old has seven goals and seven assists in 27 Championship appearances, nine of which have been as a substitute.

It is little wonder, then, that Leeds are eager to keep him at Elland Road permanently, but they now face competition to do so.

This is a transfer saga that Tottenham fans will certainly be keeping a close eye on, with some perhaps wondering if the Lilywhites should just keep hold of him.

Ange Postecoglou would no doubt love another attacking option, especially one that can play in multiple positions in the final third.

If Solomon does stay at Tottenham next season, he will very much feel like a brand-new signing for Postecoglou.
