Kinsky exit twist at Tottenham as transfer update emerges from Czechia

Antonin Kinsky has been linked with a Tottenham exit this summer after attracting interest from abroad.

Tottenham broke the Chance Liga’s transfer record when they signed Kinsky from Slavia Prague in January for around £12.5million.

The Czech goalkeeper was brought in as emergency cover while Guglielmo Vicario was sidelined last season, but with the view that he would eventually challenge the Italian for a spot in the first team.

However, Kinsky’s positive performances for the Lilywhites have already attracted interest in the shotstopper, with a new update emerging from his home country.

Lille are not currently negotiating for Kinsky

Kinsky was subject to interest from Lille as a possible replacement for the outgoing Lucas Chevalier, as reported by L’Equipe (27 July).

The Ligue 1 side were looking to secure a loan deal for the 22-year-old and are not willing to allow their goalkeeper to move to Paris Saint-Germain until they have found cover.

However, there has been a twist, as according to Czech media outlet Infotbal, no negotiations are currently underway for Kinsky (28 July).

The shotstopper travelled to Hong Kong as part of Tottenham’s pre-season tour in Asia, and could well get some minutes as they face Arsenal on Thursday (31 July).

Kinsky’s positive performance against Luton Town proved that he is quickly developing, while his attributes may see him get more game time next season than initially expected.

The youngster is far more assured in coming out to collect crosses than Vicario, and has a notably better passing range, specialising in clipped balls to his fullbacks.

His shot-stopping is not at the level of his Italian counterparts, but Thomas Frank has proven in the past to be very specific with what he wants from his goalkeepers and that he is willing to make bold calls.

Frank has to decide which players to sell this summer

While Kinsky is not a player Spurs have any interest in losing, the Londoners do need to start offloading players ahead of next season.

Frank hopes to have a clearer picture of which players he will no longer require by the end of the tour in Asia, but will then have to work hard to slim down his squad, which currently holds over 30 senior members.

The 51-year-old still wants to bring in a few more signings this summer, and will have to be ruthless with outgoings to avoid being left with unwanted players on his wage bill, which Tottenham have a history of doing far too often.
