Jose Mourinho makes contact for Tottenham player transfer, visits soon
Jose Mourinho has held talks with Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon about a potential transfer to Fenerbahce, according to Fotomac.
The news outlet reports (15 January) that the former Spurs boss wants to reunite with the Spaniard at the Turkish outfit.
Reguilon is back at the top of the Istanbul club’s wish list after they missed out on Yaimar Medina, who joined Genk from Independiente del Valle.
Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Mario Branco, plans to visit England and hold discussions for the left-back with the North London outfit.
Tottenham can’t let Jose Mourinho seal Sergio Reguilon transfer
The defender has been a bit-part player for Ange Postecoglou this season, but his importance has increased in recent weeks.
Tottenham lack depth in their backline as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie are on the sidelines.
The Australian manager has had to rely on Archie Gray at centre-back, with Djed Spence playing out of position on the left-hand side of defence.
Spurs can’t afford to lose any more defenders in the winter transfer window unless a couple of additions have been made.
Reguilon has been handed opportunities in the Premier League by Postecoglou in recent matches, with the left-back coming on as a substitute against Wolves and Newcastle United.

The Spanish ace also started his first game of the season as the North London outfit beat Tamworth 3-0 in the FA Cup on 12 January.
While reuniting with Mourinho would seem ideal for the 28-year-old, the Lilywhites need his services for the time being and can’t let him leave.
In other Tottenham news, Eddie Howe is in line to replace Postecoglou as a shock Newcastle exit is on the cards.
