Jamie O’Hara moots Tottenham to hijack Mbeumo transfer after Frank news
Tottenham have been linked with Bryan Mbeumo, who looks set to leave Brentford this summer.
Thomas Frank is the favourite to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and talks with the Brentford manager have now accelerated since Ange Postecoglou was sacked on Friday (6 June) after a dreadful Premier League campaign.
However, Frank might not be the only key Brentford figure that Tottenham bring in this summer.

Tottenham could hijack Manchester United’s move for Mbeumo
As reported by David Ornstein (2 June), Mbeumo wants to join Manchester United this summer.
The right winger has also been linked with Tottenham. However, the delayed decision over Postecoglou has slowed down transfer activity in North London.
Brentford 2024/25 | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes |
Bryan Mbeumo | 42 | 20 | 9 | 3.557′ |
Tottenham could now look to hijack United’s move for Mbeumo if Frank joins the Lilywhites.
And while speaking to Sky Sports (7 June), O’Hara suggested as much.
The former Tottenham midfielder said, “I really like Thomas [Fank]. I think the time has come for him to have a big opportunity.
“He’s put a really good team together at Brentford. Mbeumo, [Yoane] Wissa, [Kevin] Schade have been absolutely fantastic for them this season.
“Can we [Tottenham] hijack Mbeumo from Manchester United if we get Frank? I’d love him at the club.”
Tottenham should try and sign Mbeumo
If there is the slightest chance that Tottenham could sign Mbeumo this summer, they should take it.
The right winger has proven himself at the highest level during his time at Brentford, and there is no reason to suggest he would not do the same at Spurs. In fact, by moving to a club playing in the UEFA Champions League, the Cameroonian could reach new heights.
While Brennan Johnson has scored goals for Spurs this season, Mbeumo would provide perfect competition for the Welshman. Both players would be superb options to occupy the right wing, given the level of output they have produced this season.
Whether making runs into the box for a goal or cutting inside to create for a teammate, the two right wingers would offer a new level of versatility.
Therefore, Tottenham should look to appoint Frank soon to avoid missing out on this opportunity and allowing Mbeumo to join United. At the end of the day, a little competition hurts no one.
