‘Incredible’ – Pep Guardiola has already shared his verdict on potential new Tottenham star
Tottenham will be hoping that Thomas Frank can replicate just some of the success that Pep Guardiola has achieved in Manchester over the years.
The Europa League winners have lost two key attacking influences, Son Heung-min and James Maddison, through exit and injury.
Therefore, Frank needs reinforcements in the transfer window if he is to build on the successful foundations that Ange Postecoglou laid.
Daniel Levy must back the former Brentford manager, or it could all end in tears.

Tottenham open talks for ‘incredible’ Savinho
Tottenham have opened talks for Manchester City star Savinho, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist claimed (10 August) that negotiations are ongoing between the Lilywhites and Pep Guardiola’s side over a potential switch.
He states that the player is open to the move if a fee can be agreed upon between the clubs.
It is a surprise that Guardiola is willing to let the Brazilian depart, as he clearly rates him extremely highly.
Speaking after the 2-0 win against Leicester in December 2024, when the former Girona star notched his first City goal and assisted the second, he said: “He’s a guy who can play on both sides, today he finally scored a goal.
“He has an incredible ability and quality he’s proven in that period.
“He arrived in the six months when the team isn’t in the best moment than maybe he expected, compared with the past.”
Savinho can become a star at Tottenham
The 21-year-old featured 29 times in the Premier League last season, notching one goal and eight assists in his debut campaign in English football.
Given the nature of City’s season and the adaptation to a new league, that is not a bad record at all from the 13-cap international.
There is every chance that he will boast a better record after his second season in the division, which could be in North London.
His career so far:
- Atletico MG (2020-2022) – 35 appearances, two goals
- PSV Eindhoven (2022-2023) – eight appearances, two assists
- Girona (2023-2024) – 41 appearances, 11 goals, 10 assists
- Man City (2024-present) – 48 appearances, three goals, 13 assists
The move is exactly the kind of ambitious swoop that Spurs should be making after qualifying for the Champions League.
The Lilywhites would boast an exciting front three of Savinho, Dominic Solanke and fellow new addition Mohammed Kudus, with decent options from the bench.
The likes of Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are all exciting prospects that have shown glimpses of superstardom at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There are still improvements to be made in other areas, but if they can secure the Brazil ace’s signature, they will be set up for success, at least in the attacking areas.
