Frank ‘must go all out for Branthwaite transfer’ after Tottenham player betrayal

Thomas Frank was finally appointed as Tottenham’s new manager on Thursday after weeks of speculation, setting the wheels in motion for Spurs to begin their transfer activity.

The Dane replaces the sacked Ange Postecoglou after the Australian had a dire Premier League campaign.

However, despite all his faults last year, many of Tottenham’s stars were unsupportive of his departure.

Rumours have even circulated that Spurs’ players could revolt after Postecoglou was sacked.

Now that Frank has been appointed by Tottenham, he must look to go after Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite after what can be considered a betrayal by one player.

Romero takes swipe at Tottenham ownership after Frank’s appointment

Cristian Romero has been linked away from Tottenham for some time.

The Argentine centre-back has been are the heart of Spurs’ backline since 2022 and has become one of their best players.

Therefore, it was a damning revelation when Romero sent a heartfelt message to Postecoglou on Instagram, just 54 minutes after Frank’s appointment.

In this post, the defender failed to mention the Dane, in what was a clear swipe at Tottenham’s board.

This is simply unacceptable, as not only does it undermine Frank, but it is a clear betrayal of the London club.

Now, Spurs must go all out for Everton’s Branthwaite. The young centre-back would be a perfect replacement for the Argentine, and he has proved his worth in recent seasons.

Tottenham have been heavily linked to Branthwaite in recent weeks, and Frank now has to make this a reality or he could face a potential mutiny if he has a poor start.

Romero must be sold by Spurs

On top of this, Tottenham must look to rid themselves of Romero. The centre-back has become more and more delusional as the season has gone on, and clearly favours a move away from the London club.

After such a poor 2024/25 campaign, Spurs shouldn’t have an issue facilitating his departure.

Once a new centre-back is brought in like Branthwaite, Romero should be allowed to leave as he clearly no longer has Tottenham’s best interests at heart.

Hopefully, Frank will quickly get his house in order to ensure the dressing room fully supports him going into the new campaign.
