Frank may lose Kinsky already at Tottenham as five-year contract agreed

Antonin Kinsky could be set for a surprise exit from Tottenham this summer.

Kinsky was initially signed by Tottenham from Slavia Prague in January 2025 as cover for the injured Guglielmo Vicario.

The 22-year-old impressed on his debut against Liverpool three days later, where he kept a clean sheet, and is expected to eventually challenge his Italian colleague for a spot in the first XI.

However, Thomas Frank could lose Kinsky temporarily to a Ligue 1 side, as negotiations are underway for the highly rated goalkeeper.

Lille negotiating loan deal for Kinsky

Kinsky produced an impressive display against Luton Town last Saturday (26 July) as he produced two excellent saves to keep the Hatters at bay.

The Czech shotstopper, whose father was also a goalkeeper and earned five caps for his country, has impressed on the whole since joining the Lilywhites, particularly with his passing range and commanding presence in the box.

Kinsky’s statistics for Tottenham last season

Kinsky quickly established himself ahead of Brandon Austin, but could now be set to leave as Lille have entered negotiations with Spurs to sign him on loan this summer, as reported by L’Equipe (27 July).

The French outfit are set to lose Lucas Chevalier to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, agreeing on a five-year contract, and have targeted the Tottenham ace to replace their outgoing player.

Should Kinsky join the Mastiffs, Frank would likely have to replace the youngster at Spurs after Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman’s contracts expired, while Josh Keeley joined Luton last week.

Frank could favour Kinsky over Vicario

Vicario’s shot-stopping abilities are up there with the best in the Premier League, and his leadership is proving increasingly important in the Tottenham dressing room.

However, the 28-year-old has a notable weakness when coming out to claim the ball, especially from set pieces, while his long-kicking is somewhat limited.

Kinsky offers a far more assured presence between the sticks and is far more comfortable with the ball at his feet, making his skillset more suited to Frank’s needs.

The Danish manager has demonstrated a willingness to promote younger keepers, such as David Raya, ahead of more established ones if they suit his philosophy, and could make a bold call with Kinsky should he remain at Hotspur Way.
