Evan Ferguson signing: Tottenham could follow offer to seal transfer

Tottenham may follow Fulham’s interest in a deal for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, according to Miguel Delaney.

The report in the Independent [31 December] claims that the Cottagers could pursue a loan deal for the Irish international in the January transfer window.

It states that a loan bid from Fulham may lead the likes of Spurs, Everton, Manchester United and Arsenal to join the race for his signature on a temporary basis.

However, the report also claims that the Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler has denied that the attacker is available.

Ferguson would be a good signing for Tottenham

The young attacker would be a good signing for the Lilywhites and would show that the club are willing to back under pressure manager Ange Postecoglou to turn the situation around in the transfer window.

The promising striker has had injury issues this season and has scored just one goal in 12 Premier League appearances as a result but his potential is clear.

Across the two previous seasons, he has scored 12 goals in 46 league appearances in a total of 2,315 minutes, which is around 25 full matches.

He would provide Postecoglou with a better option when he wants to rest Dominic Solanke, who would remain the number one option at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after his return of six goals and three assists in 16 league matches since he signed in the summer.

Currently, Timo Werner is the back-up and his career in English football has been underwhelming, with two goals and six assists in league 29 appearances for the North Londoners and ten goals and nine assists in 56 league matches for Chelsea.

A signing like Ferguson on loan could help the Australian to save his job and is the exact kind of value for money addition that Daniel Levy likes.

In other Tottenham news, the club have been linked with a move for Manchester City star Jack Grealish.
