Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and more – How Tottenham heroes reacted to Son Heung-min exit news

Son Heung-min has officially left Tottenham as the South Korean international joined MLS side Los Angeles FC on Wednesday.

This news ends the attacker’s 10-year stay at the London club, where he guided Spurs to the Europa League title last season as captain.

Speculation surrounding the 33-year-old’s future lasted throughout the summer, with Son confirming that he would leave Tottenham last week.

Now, Son has made a record move to Los Angeles FC for a fee of £19.5 million.

Son sends an emotional goodbye message on Instagram

Son no doubt leaves the Spurs as a Tottenham legend.

The winger played 454 matches for the London club during his stay, netting 173 goals, leaving as their fourth all-time top scorer.

Therefore, it was obviously difficult for the South Korean international to say goodbye to Spurs on Wednesday.

In a long and emotional message, Son posted on his Instagram (6 August), explaining that the decision to leave was the “hardest of his life” and that he “hopes that he made the fans proud” during his time at Spurs.

This quickly led to multiple comments from many former and current Tottenham players reacting to the news.

Former Spurs star Christian Eriksen simply put a red heart and praised hands emoji, while Mousa Dembele commented with a red heart and a clapping emoji.

Dele Alli, who is now at Como in Italy, commented: “My brother,” with a series of purple heart emojis.

Current Tottenham stars such as Dominic Solanke simply put a goat emoji, whereas Pedro Porro put “Legend my Sonny” with a hands shaking and a white heart emoji.

Tottenham may never replace Son

While many players come and go from Spurs, few have had the impact Son has had on the London club.

His personality on and off the pitch shone, and he was a perfect representative of Tottenham.

The South Korean stuck with Tottenham through the good and bad times, as was ultimately rewarded last season as he ended their trophy drought.

Going forward, it is going to be extremely difficult for Thomas Frank to even get close to replacing him after everything he has done for the good of Spurs.
