Celtic player set to join Tottenham days after Ange Postecoglou sack news

Tottenham and Celtic look set to continue their links despite the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.

The former Hoops manager was dismissed on 6 June despite winning the Europa League title, the club’s first trophy in 17 years.

Results in the Premier League did irreparable damage to his standing with Daniel Levy, with 22 defeats ultimately proving too much for the controversial owner to look past despite trophy success.

Tottenham set to sign Celtic star after Postecoglou exit

The return of Champions League football to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should give the Lilywhites a bigger pull in the transfer market as they look to improve their squad.

Mark Hendry has reported on 7 June that Spurs are poised to win the race for Celtic teenager Conall Glancy.

The Scottish journalist states that the N17 outfit are set to win a heavily-contested battle for one of the best young players in Scottish football, which will frustrate the Hoops’ hierarchy.

Tottenham youth revolution continues without Postecoglou

Spurs seem to be revolutionising their youth ranks lately, signing some of the best talents from around the United Kingdom in the last few months.

They signed Daniel Batty from Manchester City and Luca Furnell-Gill from Liverpool in the winter transfer window, moves that were seen as major coups given how highly rated they are.

The Lilywhites were also interested in the Southampton youth defender Harley Emsden-James, but he looks set to move to Manchester United instead.

It may frustrate supporters, given that the focus should be on signings that can have an impact in the first team straight away, but it is never a bad thing to add real quality to the youth ranks.

The young players were forced to step up for Postecoglou’s side this season, with the likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall playing a significant role in their success, and the likes of Damola Ajayi, Callum Olusesi and Dane Scarlett also called upon at one point.

The strengthening of the senior side with additions in the transfer market is obviously a major priority, however, it cannot hurt to stockpile some of the best talents in the country either.
