Williams-Barnett agrees new terms at Tottenham

There is no doubt that the North Londoners have one of the brightest academies in England, and know how to get the best out of young talent.

This was certainly on show last campaign as both Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall were able to thrive in the first team, in what was a difficult year.

It will now be interesting to see how this sort of youthful approach works under new manager Thomas Frank after his move from Brentford.

With that in mind, the Dane could have his eye on the progress of the teenager after a new deal was agreed with the Lilywhites.

This comes after The Secret Scout reported (3 July) that Williams-Barnett has signed a new deal at Tottenham as one of the best under-16 stars in the country.

It is fair to say that this represents a real coup for the Lilywhites after a number of top clubs enquired for the skilful and versatile starlet in recent months.

It appears that the Englishman only ever wanted to stay at Spurs, with “no real interest” in moving away showcased by the player or his family this summer.

Tottenham land Williams-Barnett coup

Keeping hold of the teen talent certainly represents a boost in N17, but it will only remain that way with a clear pathway to the first team.

Frank needs to prove to the youngster that there are chances in the Lilywhites’ squad moving forward, as opposed to letting emerging talent rot.

This will likely be seen with decisions over the likes of Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore at Tottenham, who are in need of senior minutes to aid their development.
