Archie Gray exit fears emerge at Tottenham as Bayern Munich eye summer deal

Bayern Munich have set their sights on signing Archie Gray.

Gray has been one of the only positives over the last 12 months, but he could be snatched from Tottenham in the summer, with Fichajes reporting that Bayern are preparing a move.

The midfielder-turned-defender has made 72 appearances across the last two campaigns in all competitions, with 13 Premier League starts this season.

It’s claimed that the Bundesliga giants are planning to submit a formal offer once the summer transfer window opens, with Real Madrid also interested.

Bayern are said to be confident that they can lure Gray to Germany.

Archie Gray interest inevitable after what he’s done at Spurs

It says a lot when a teenager has been one of the most level-headed players at a completely disjointed Tottenham, but that is a testament to his character.

As is his willingness to do whatever it takes to help his team, as showcased by the fact that he has played across several positions throughout his time in North London.

Gray joined as a promising central midfielder from Leeds, but he has been utilised at right-back and centre-back over the last 12 months, mainly due to the injury crisis that ensued under Ange Postecoglou.

That has been a huge help for Spurs, but it could also come at a cost for them in the near future, and even more so if they are to be relegated to the Championship.

To have such versatility at his age, and actually excel in those positions, will only heighten the interest, and it may not be long until Tottenham are resigned to losing their biggest talent.

How much would Tottenham get from Gray sale?

Tottenham paid in the region of £35million to sign Gray from Leeds, and with plenty of Premier League experience under his belt, that price will have increased significantly.

Relegation would change things, but working on the assumption that Tottenham can avoid that, they should easily be holding out for a fee no less than £70m

Gray has yet to reach his full potential, mainly due to the fact that he has had to learn several new roles, and that needs to be factored into his cost.

At just 19 years old, Gray still has the potential to be a world-class midfielder, and Bayern will need to be forced to pay a fee that represents that.
