Ange Postecoglou not happy as Tottenham ready new £15m transfer
Ange Postecoglou has cut a frustrated figure on the Tottenham sidelines this season as injury concerns lead to yet more transfer developments.
The Australian head coach has been without many key stars throughout the season with different fitness issues which have derailed Spurs’ season.
Against Manchester United, James Maddison made a goalscoring return while Ben Davies and Guglielmo Vicario came back into the starting 11.
Despite this, with the Lilywhites head coach looking ahead to the summer, signings could be made to avoid injuries becoming this level of problem again.
Tottenham prepared to spend £15m on Gianluca Mancini
It has been the centre-back position which has been the biggest problem for the Lilywhites this campaign.
Davies has featured as a makeshift central defender alongside teenage sensation Archie Gray who typically operates as a midfielder.
Kevin Danso was signed in the January window to help solve these issues but the ex-Lens man was taken off with an apparent injury last time out.
This has left Postecoglou unsatisfied with his defensive options in North London and has firmly set Gianluca Mancini in his sights.
The Daily Mirror reported on 19 February (page 57) that the Roma defender could be available for £15million in the summer after featuring against Spurs in November.
The North London outfit are scouting the Italy international ahead of a potential deal once the window opens at the end of the season.
Gianluca Mancini could solve defensive woes at Tottenham
There have been stories in the backline this season that have benefitted Spurs and none more so than Djed Spence.
Despite being a full-back, there is proof there that Postecoglou can get the best out of options that are already at his disposal in N17.
This has been the case with Davies and Gray but there is no doubt that the addition of Mancini could prove to be beneficial.

The 28-year-old Italian has been a regular feature since joining Roma, making over 250 appearances since joining, initially on loan, in 2019.
This regular game time could prove to be an attractive quality for Postecoglou who will want to maintain some level of consistency next campaign.
