Ange Postecoglou favourite in line for Tottenham exit as Premier League club eye January transfer
One Tottenham star who Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for is being lined up for a move by West Ham.
Tottenham have plenty of business that they need to do in January, though they are closing in on their first arrival.
Santos defender Souza is said to be close to completing a move to Tottenham, after a fee in the region of £13million was agreed.
However, a lot of the focus this month has been on outgoings, and West Ham are the latest club to be linked with a move for a Spurs star.
Antonin Kinsky could leave Tottenham in January
Tottenham have already sold Brennan Johnson, with the Welshman having started every game for Crystal Palace since his £35m move.
However, Johnson’s exit is unlikely to be the only one this month, with Antonin Kinsky emerging as a target for West Ham, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Hammers are at serious risk of relegation under former Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo, and they are in desperate need of reinforcements to get them back on track for survival.
Kinsky has made just two appearances for Tottenham under Thomas Frank, but played 10 times under Postecoglou last season.
The Australian was a big fan of the Czech goalkeeper throughout his time in North London, and would quite possibly have handed him more gametime had he still been in charge.
What did Ange Postecoglou say about Antonin Kinsky?
While it was primarily due to Guglielmo Vicario’s injury, Postecoglou handed a fair amount of gametime to Kisnky last season.
The 22-year-old made six Premier League appearances, two FA Cup appearances, and two Carabao Cup appearances, with three clean sheets in that time.
However, given his age and lack of experience, Kinsky arrived in North London with a few alarm bells, though they were quickly dismissed by Postecoglou after watching him play.
The Australian said: “It’s not easy going to a place like Tamworth and they’re throwing balls literally under the crossbar and you’ve got about 20 bodies around you. It’s more about mindset and tackling that, and he didn’t shy away from it.
“It does give some comfort to the players around him if they see he’s handling it well. It means they can focus on their own job and be a lot clearer-headed.
“We’ve thrown him in and given him some enormous tasks with very little sort of preparation, and I just think he’s going to be an outstanding goalkeeper.”
If Kinsky were to leave in January, it would leave Tottenham in need of a new backup goalkeeper.
