Alejo Veliz exit twist emerges after transfer offer made at Tottenham

Tottenham have made their plans for Alejo Veliz as Daniel Levy sacked Ange Postecoglou after a disappointing Premier League season.

The Argentine striker joined Espanyol last summer on loan and wasn’t part of the North London outfit’s team that lost 22 English top-flight games in the current campaign.

Rosario Central have emerged as an option for Veliz after his underwhelming spell in La Liga, but Spurs seemingly have different plans for him.

Tottenham want Veliz to remain in Europe after Central offer

Tottenham prefer Veliz stays in Europe amid an offer from Central, according to Cesar Luis Merlo.

The journalist with over 448,000 followers on X revealed (6 June) that the Argentine outfit have made a formal offer for the 21-year-old to return on loan this summer.

Veliz joined Spurs in 2023 from the Rosario club after demonstrating immense potential, but has since failed to live up to expectations.

It’s been claimed that while the centre-forward likes the idea of going back to Central in the transfer window, things may be complicated as Tottenham have other plans.

The young striker scored just one goal for Espanyol this season and arguably needs to find his feet once again at a level he can perform at, which could be achieved with a move to Central.

Postecoglou sack to determine Tottenham plans for summer transfer window

Postecoglou’s sacking at Spurs has received a mixed reaction from fans, with many wondering why a title-winning manager has been fired.

Some supporters understand the decision, as the North London outfit had been abysmal in the Premier League in the current campaign.

While the Australian manager could argue that several injuries hampered his domestic prospects, finishing 17th in the English top flight can’t be acceptable for the Lilywhites.

Levy must now hire a new manager at Tottenham, which will undoubtedly determine their plans in the transfer window.

Thomas Frank has been heavily linked with Spurs, and the Danish manager may have a significant say in who is signed in N17 if he’s appointed.

The North London outfit should definitely look for a new number nine, considering Dominic Solanke and Richarlison’s struggles this season.

Son Heung-min has also not been as reliable in recent months, resulting in a lack of attacking output from the Lilywhites.

Tottenham must be confident of being able to sign a quality striker this summer as they play Champions League football in the upcoming campaign, and Veliz should be allowed to rejoin Central if that’s what he wants.
