Mauricio Pochettino in running for Newcastle job as former Tottenham-linked boss emerges as favourite
Mauricio Pochettino could face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next season.
Rumours were gathering pace in regard to a possible return to North London for Pochettino, who was arguably their last successful boss.
The USMNT manager made it clear that he had full focus on the World Cup, which, in turn, led Spurs to hire Roberto De Zerbi, which is a decision that has certainly paid off.
However, the former Tottenham boss could be back in the Premier League sooner rather than later.
Pochettino is one of several candidates for the Newcastle job, though a familiar name is the current favourite.

How likely is Mauricio Pochettino to Newcastle?
There have been no immediate signs that Newcastle are going to sack Eddie Howe, though after a dismal campaign, fans have been calling for it.
The Magpies missed out on European qualification, finished below their arch rivals Sunderland, while also suffering defeat against them on both occasions.
If Howe were to depart, then Pochettino could be one of those considered for the job, with major bookmakers offering odds of 20/1 for the move.

Pochettino’s last role in club football was with Chelsea, where he spent 51 games in charge before leaving in the summer of 2024.
Tottenham-linked manager favourite for Newcastle job
Spurs have been linked with several managers over the last 12 months, but it was the name of Oliver Glasner that cropped up more often than not.
It was confirmed earlier this season that he would be departing Crystal Palace, and as of 1 July, he is the favourite to take over from Howe if he is to depart.
Glasner’s odds are as low as 4/1 to move to the North East, making him the favourite by some margin ahead of the likes of Andoni Iraola and Roberto Mancini.
