Crystal Palace warned of ‘backwards step’ amid update on ex-Tottenham boss Thomas Frank
Crystal Palace have been warned against appointing former Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank as their new boss.
Oliver Glasner has announced that he will leave the South London club at the end of the season despite a highly successful reign.
Frank has emerged as a contender for the role, with some reports suggesting that he is the preferred candidate.
The Dane was sacked by Spurs in February after just eight months in charge of the North London outfit, and is a huge part of why they could get relegated.
Tottenham fans know all about Frank after his miserable stint in the dugout, and the Eagles would be taking a risk if they brought him in.

What has been said about Thomas Frank to Crystal Palace?
John Wenham is baffled by the idea that Frank could take over at Palace after his dismal Tottenham stint, and thinks it would take them backwards very quickly.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “It would be a really poor appointment.

“They were heavily linked with Andoni Iraola, to then hire Frank would be such a backwards step.
“Palace should be building on their trophy-laden few years, likely to include a Conference League win and Europa League football, why appoint a manager who has proven he cannot compete on one front, let alone four.”
Why Palace can’t appoint Tottenham flop
Wenham is right, Palace are looking to win trophies and expand on their recent run, Frank has not shown that he can do that.
His reign in N17 was dreadful as he won 13, drew 10 and lost 15 matches, with the Lilywhites knocked out of both domestic cups when he was in charge.
At the moment, the Selhurst Park side are a level above Spurs, so the former Brentford man would be failing upwards, somehow, if he were handed the post, upon Glasner’s departure.
There are surely better candidates for the role than someone who has put the Lilywhites in a position where they could genuinely go down to the Championship, if results go the wrong way.
Frank should not be considered for any top jobs in the near future after his spell with last season’s Europa League winners.
