Tottenham Hotspur have only one win at Stamford Bridge dating back to the 1990s, showcasing the size of their Chelsea test next Tuesday night.

Roberto De Zerbi has turned Tottenham around since his arrival in N17, winning two, drawing two and losing just once from his first five games in charge.

However, his biggest Spurs test is arguably on the way next Tuesday, as he takes his Lilywhites side to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea remain in relative disarray at the moment, managerless and with growing fan frustration towards their BlueCo ownership.

But, the Blues still present a big test for Tottenham, as exemplified by Spurs’ record when playing at Chelsea’s iconic home.

What is Tottenham’s record at Stamford Bridge?

In football, certain teams and venues can prove to be constant thorns in another club’s side, or on the flip side, can be consistently fruitful hunting grounds.

When it comes to Tottenham and Stamford Bridge, however, Spurs’ relationship with this stadium is certainly categorised under the former of those.

Chelsea beat Tottenham 1-0 in Spurs’ last visit to SW6 in April 2025, and that defeat proved to be the latest chapter in a historically bad run of Lilywhites form at the Bridge.

Indeed, Tottenham are currently winless from their last nine visits to the Bridge in all competitions dating back to 2019, with Chelsea winning seven of those.

However, that’s just the start of it. Spurs’ last win there came in April 2018 when they won 3-1 in the Premier League, ending almost a three-decade-long wait at that time.

That’s because from November 1990 to April 2017, astonishingly, Tottenham failed to win a single game at Stamford Bridge in all competitions.

30 games: that’s how long that winless run at the Bridge lasted for during that time period, and with nine current visits without victory, De Zerbi’s men will be desperate to stop another embarrassing record growing any larger.

How that next Tottenham victory at the Bridge will taste oh so sweet when it does arrive then, and why not on Tuesday night?

There haven’t been many better times to play the Blues than right now, as caretaker boss Calum McFarlane hasn’t been able to elicit any real improvement out of them than Liam Rosenior was getting, with one win from five.

On top of that, Chelsea have been very beatable at Stamford Bridge this season, losing seven times from their 18 home Premier League games, with just six wins and five draws to boot.

The Blues’ seven home losses this season is more than their number of defeats at the Bridge in their previous two campaigns combined, losing only twice there in 2024-25 and four times in 2023-24 respectively.

And, depending on West Ham’s result at Newcastle on Sunday, if the Hammers fail to beat the Magpies, then a Spurs win next Tuesday night would secure their Premier League survival.
