Randal Kolo Muani could get Tottenham relegated, but it isn’t entirely his fault for downfall

Randal Kolo Muani was dreadful again as Tottenham Hotspur fell to a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea.

The Premier League relegation battle is due to go down to the wire after Spurs’ latest defeat, and while it remains in their hands, there will be very little optimism.

Tottenham will face Everton in North London, which is where most of their struggles have arrived, while West Ham will host Leeds in need of a win.

The hope was that Spurs would get a point at Stamford Bridge to secure safety, though that was not to be the case.

Kolo Muani’s performance certainly didn’t help, but nor has Roberto De Zerbi’s decision-making since his appointment.

Randal Kolo Muani hung out to dry again

Let’s face it, anyone could have played more of a role on the right wing than Kolo Muani did against Chelsea.

The Frenchman completed just 53 per cent of his 17 attempted passes, failed to complete any of his four attempted crosses, and, of course, made an error that led to a goal.

That level of underperformance deserves criticism.

But so does De Zerbi’s decision to utilise him on the wing, given the fact that Kolo Mauni has failed to get a single goal or assist when playing there.

All nine of his goal involvements this season have arrived when he has been played centrally, with his impact out wide minimal at best.

Does Kolo Muani deserve a shot up top?

If he is to play, then Kolo Muani simply has to be the one leading the line.

However, Richarlison’s knack for scoring goals this season makes it almost impossible to make a case that he should be starting there.

The Brazilian has managed 11 Premier League goals this season, which is seven more than any of his teammates, and eight more than Dominic Solanke.

He is the one to lead the line against Everton on Sunday, leaving no space for Kolo Muani to feature.
