Adam Armstrong is Wolves’ most likely avenue to hurt Tottenham at Molineux
Adam Armstrong has been a quality signing for Wolves, and poses Wanderers’ biggest goalscoring danger to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The 29-year-old joined Wolves in this season’s winter transfer window, signing from Championship side Southampton on a permanent deal.
With bags of second tier experience under his belt, the former England youth international has never quite been able to perform consistently on the Premier League stage.
He’s had numerous seasons at top-flight level with the Saints, and has even turned out in the division during his early years as a professional with Newcastle United.
However, ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Wolves on Saturday, he’s the player that Roberto De Zerbi must instruct his defenders to keep an eye on the most.

How has Adam Armstrong fared since signing for Wolves?
Tottenham are winless in six league games against Wolves, ensuring that nobody in the Lilywhites camp will be looking past the already relegated side as a straightforward three points.
Straightforward and Spurs don’t really belong in the same sentence given their recent struggles, and now that they know their fate, Wanderers have nothing to lose against whoever they play for the rest of the season.

Wolves made just two signings in this season’s winter window, one of which was getting Angel Gomes in on loan from Marseille, and the other was Armstrong on a permanent.
Indeed, the latter was the sort of signing that screamed of Molineux decision-makers planning for Championship football for 2026-27, but he has been able to make an impact in the Premier League for them too.
Armstrong has a goal and two assists from nine top-flight outings for Wanderers this term, and has started every single one of those nine appearances he’s made in league football.
As per Sofascore, he’s averaged 1.1 shots per 90 for Wolves in the Premier League, whilst creating two big chances and has a passing accuracy of 72 per cent.
He’s also posted a good dribble success rate of 54 per cent, and has only been caught offside an average of 0.2 times per game.
Armstrong is the type of striker who loves to play off the shoulder of the last defender, and he’s always moving and peeling off opposition players to try and create space and opportunities to be played in on goal.
That’s why he’s going to be so dangerous against Tottenham, as Spurs are likely to go aggressive in attack on Saturday, and with no Cristian Romero in central defence any more, he’ll be confident of taking full advantage of that.
Armstrong’s Southampton numbers should worry Tottenham
Indeed, his numbers from his time spent with Southampton during the first half of this season will tell Tottenham all they need to know about Armstrong.
He hit 11 goals and provided four assists in 29 Championship appearances for Saints this season, despite the fact for the majority of that time, they were floundering in the bottom half of the division.
As per Sofascore, he still was able to register 3.0 shots on goal per game and had an expected goals (xG) of 14.97, whilst 10 of his 11 strikes came from inside the box.
He also missed 15 big chances too, which is an unwanted number of course, but it also speaks to how good his forward play is to be able to get that amount of opportunities for himself.
Armstrong is a handful for centre-backs, and if Tottenham are to concede and possibly even lose the game against Wolves on Saturday, the likelihood will be that he will’ve been at the centre of it.
