The three fixtures that could decide Tottenham’s Premier League future amid relegation fears

Igor Tudor has been handed the task of keeping Tottenham in the Premier League, with that challenge stumbling at the first hurdle.

The Lilywhites fell to defeat 4-1 against bitter rivals Arsenal, as they failed to capitalise on the rest of the relegation pack dropping points.

Spurs are just four points above the drop zone, and the threat of Championship football is very real next season after the poor season under Thomas Frank.

Tudor will be looking at the upcoming games and assessing where they must be picking up points. Of course, winning as many games as possible will be the goal, but some games may be more important than others.

Now, Tottenham News pinpoints the three remaining fixtures that could define Spurs’ place in the English football pyramid.

Spurs simply must defeat fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest

Priority number one for Spurs is to win the “relegation six-pointers” that still remain on their schedule.

The first of which is against Nottingham Forest on 22 March. Depending on the results leading up to this clash, this game could push either side above the other in the battle to survive.

Spurs must simply beat the Tricky Trees, as that could very well provide them with much-needed breathing room at the bottom of the Premier League.

West Ham will be hoping that match is a draw, with both sides dropping points. However, the Hammers do face Aston Villa that weekend, so it remains to be seen if they would be able to capitalise on that outcome.

Tudor must beat Leeds in tricky fixture sandwich

There is every chance that Leeds are out of sight in the relegation battle, as their form has them on course to survive.

However, the game against the Whites on 9 May lands in between two tricky match-ups for Spurs.

In the week before facing Leeds, Tottenham travel to Villa Park, and then after Leeds, they travel to Stamford Bridge.

The match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Daniel Farke’s side is sandwiched right in the middle, and with Tudor’s side likely to be the underdogs against both Aston Villa and Chelsea, it makes getting three points at home all the more important.

Hope will be that the Croatian can cause an upset, but in that three-match run, Leeds is Spurs’ best chance at three points.

Morale will certainly be boosted as Tottenham are one of just three sides that have managed to beat the Whites at Elland Road this season.

Tottenham may see final day of the season drama

Tottenham’s survival prospects may come down to the final day of the season, and their fixture is not exactly easy.

The Lilywhites host Everton, who at that time could be needing the win themselves to secure European football.

The final day could see plenty of drama, and if Tottenham end up losing or drawing, it could cement them as a Championship club next season.

Hopefully, the relegation battle for Spurs does not go down to the wire. David Moyes may currently fancy his chances against the North London club.
