View: Tottenham would be foolish to say no to £40m David Raya signing as transfer development emerges

Tottenham are one of many English clubs currently undergoing a major shake-up, with plenty of movement expected at the North London outfit this summer.

Fortunately, they have made the first – and most important – move by securing the services of Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.

The former Celtic man will be keen to get to work as soon as possible, and high up on his list of priorities will be bringing in new players to help bolster his options ahead of the new campaign.

According to Sky Sports, one player that Tottenham have an interest in is Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, but the London outfit are reluctant to pay his £40million fee.

Given both the current state of the market and indeed the club’s need for a goalkeeper, Tottenham would be foolish to turn away from the signature of Raya for just £40million.

The Bees number one had a stunning Premier League campaign, with the Spaniard ranking first for saves (154) and saves from shots outside the box (60), and second for crosses caught (50), as per Sky Sports.

As well as his superb talent with his hands, the goalkeeper proved he is more than capable of thriving in the modern-day game, with Raya ranking first for both touches (1,882) and long passes completed (410) when it comes to all goalkeepers in the competition.

If the 1-0 win against champions Manchester City on the final day of the season was his last appearance for Brentford, he is certainly leaving with his head held high, with the goalkeeper making two saves and one high claim in the superb victory, as per SofaScore.

That display helped him finish the season as Brentford’s second-best-rated player, with only striker Ivan Toney (7.25) boasting a higher rating than Raya (7.18), as per SofaScore.

In other Tottenham news, the North London outfit can solve all their defensive issues with the signature of one Premier League star this summer.
