View: Pedro Porro embarrassed by Marcus Tavernier in Tottenham loss v Bournemouth
Tottenham have yet again failed to make any significant transfers this season with their strategy failing infront of their eyes every week in the Premier League.
Cristian Stellini started Clement Llenglet, Ivan Perisic and Pedro Porro in the 3-2 defeat against Bournemouth, but the same old habits kept popping up again.
Despite the huge gap between the teams at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, you could not really tell which team was which in the Premier League.

Porro is one of those signings that is becoming a real issue.
The Spaniard was meant to resolve the problem area at right wing-back, but he is only making things worse it seems right now with each passing week.
Making one error that led to a goal against Bournemouth, he was embarrassed by his opposite number Marcus Tavernier, who is more of a winger anyway – looking at the stats from WhoScored.

Tavernier was more of a threat going forward, and also made more of an impact at the back as he stood strong against the likes of Heung-Min Son and Dean Kulusevski.
Porro, on the other hand, was tormented by Matias Vina, who scored the opening goal for the Cherries as he waltzed through the right-hand side of the Spurs defence.
Despite have 0.8% more of his side’s total possession, Porro managed fewer shots, worst pass success rate and to compound the issues, made fewer tackles.

Attacking wise it may have just been an off-day and that is acceptable.
The real issue is when you delve into the defensive side of his game, which is nowhere near good enough given he is below the 10th percentile in clearances and aerial duels won [FBRef].
Of course, his attacking stats look unbelievable above, but they haven’t been that high in the Premier League it feels with his performances since arriving.
Hopefully, the end of this season can be a learning curve which can see Porro explode next season, something that many will be looking forward to, none more so than himself.
