View: 95% Yves Bissouma worthy of place in BBC Team of the Week after Tottenham draw v Arsenal

Tottenham continued their strong start to life under Ange Postecoglou with a well-earned draw against fierce rivals Arsenal on Sunday (24 September).

Son Heung-min was the hero at the Emirates with his superb brace, but a Cristian Romero own goal and a Bukayo Saka penalty saw the game end 2-2.

One player that perhaps went under the radar in North London was Tottenham ace Yves Bissouma, who was again outstanding in midfield for his side.

Yves Bissouma

As per SofaScore, the Mali international completed 95% of his 59 passes, including one accurate long pass. He also made four tackles, one clearance and blocked one shot, as well as winning six of his nine ground duels.

Out of his Tottenham teammates, only full-backs Destiny Udogie (eight) and Pedro Porro (five) made more tackles than Bissouma.

The defensive midfielder also tried to get in on the act going forward, registering one shot off target and completing his only dribble attempt.

His display certainly caught the eye, with BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks deservedly naming the Tottenham midfielder in his Team of the Week.

“The mere fact that this lad struggled to get a regular game under Antonio Conte is more a reflection on the high-profile Italian manager than it was on the Mali international,” Crooks wrote for BBC Sport (24 September).

“Bissouma has been a revelation for Tottenham so far this season and played against Arsenal with the sort of passion you expect from a midfield player in a north London derby. The player’s ability to engage the opposition and at the same time cover ground has been outstanding.”

In other Tottenham news, Son Heung-min stunned North London with a 93% masterclass in his club’s draw with Arsenal.
