Tottenham must ignore Sergio Reguilon break clause as Manchester United uncertainty emerges
Tottenham fans would be forgiven if they had forgotten that Sergio Reguilon is still contracted to the club as the carnage continues at Manchester United.
While Destiny Udogie scored his first goal for the club and starred in the 4-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday 10 December, the Spaniard was starting in a 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth.
Ange Postecoglou was clear in his message over the summer that he only wanted those who he considered worthwhile, with this one decision looking right already.

The grass is not greener elsewhere sometimes, and Reguilon is starting to find that out the hard way.
David Ornstein reported for The Athletic on Monday 11 December that uncertainty surrounds the defender, with a break clause in his loan contract in January.
Based on everything this season, this is one of those clauses that Tottenham must simply ignore.

Reguilon has simply not been good enough and does not possess the attributes needed to succeed under Postecoglou and his new regime.
The 26-year-old has played in seven Premier League games so far this season and has been accurate with only 15 per cent of his crosses [SofaScore].
On top of that, he has only been successful with 43 per cent of his dribbles and won 55 per cent of his total duels, as he fails to deliver in every third of the pitch at Old Trafford.

When you compare this to Udogie, you can tell the complete switch in styles since Reguilon was last at the club, something that should work against him and his future in North London.
The Italian is much more direct in the final third and is accurate with 82 per cent of his passes in the opposition half as Spurs look to break teams down with quick moves rather than lump hopeful crosses into the box [SofaScore].
Times have changed massively at Tottenham, and they must ignore any break clause in January, Reguilon has made his bed and now it is time to lay in it.
In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou was let down by one player in the win over Newcastle.
