Tottenham ace Richarlison struggles to impress v Everton despite scoring once again
It was a poor afternoon for Tottenham striker Richarlison overall despite the Brazillian getting himself on the scoresheet in the 2-1 win against his former side.
Richarlison scored his fourth goal in three games to put the hosts ahead against Everton on Saturday 23 December, before Son Heung-min doubled the Tottenham lead in the 18th minute of the first half, scoring his 11th Premier League goal of the season.
Andre Gomes got Sean Dyche’s side back into the contest in the 82nd minute and despite a few late scares, Spurs were able to hold on for a third consecutive win and an important three points.
Nonetheless, despite Richarlison getting his name on the scoresheet once again, his overall performance will leave Postecoglou with some food for thought ahead of January.
The Brazil international completed just 45 per cent of his passes and had just 20 touches of the ball, while he was unsuccessful with his one dribble attempt and failed to register a shot at goal other than his ninth-minute strike (Sofascore).
Defensively he was poor, winning just one of his four ground duels and failing to win any of the four aerial duels which he contested, and was wasteful with possession as he lost the ball 10 times from his 20 touches.
Although he has finally found his goalscoring boots, Postecoglou will perhaps be keen to bring in a striker who can offer his Spurs side more on and off the ball, as well as in and around the penalty area.
With the transfer window just around the corner, and games against Brighton and Bournemouth to come, Richarlison will need to prove to Tottenham that he can offer more than just goals, which are often far and few between if he wants to avoid being replaced in January.
