Thomas Frank will be licking his lips at these two Everton players taking to field vs Tottenham

Tottenham return to Premier League action on Sunday with their first-ever trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on Everton.

Guglielmo Vicario’s inspired performance helped Spurs draw 0-0 with Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday night, with the Italian goalkeeper pulling off eight saves, scoring a prevented goals tally of 2.68 and notching a perfect 10/10 on Sofascore.

Vicario, 29, has definitely had a mixed few weeks in between the sticks at Tottenham, with Spurs fans calling for Antonin Kinsky to be Thomas Frank’s number one just days before his stunner at Monaco.

He’ll no doubt be riding a wave of positivity after his Champions League exploits and what we’re expecting from Everton on Sunday could continue to do the world of good for his confidence.

Beto and Thierno Barry are easily Everton’s weakest links

Everton have had a good start to the season by their standards.

David Moyes‘ men are 12th in the table with three wins from nine games and Jack Grealish, who was linked with Tottenham in the summer, has looked like an incredible signing for them on loan from Manchester City.

However, there’s no doubt that the Toffees could be a lot higher in the Premier League right now if they had a striker who knew where the back of the net was, with Beto and summer signing Thierno Barry massively struggling on Merseyside.

As per stats by Sofascore, Beto has generated an xG of 3.15 this season but has only scored one goal, meaning he’s massively under-performing in front of goal.

Barry, on the other hand, has been Moyes’ back-up striker, but he’s only mustered 0.46 of xG in his 231 minutes of Premier League football this term.

Everton’s playmaking ability has seen Beto rank ninth in the Premier League for xG, ahead of the likes of Nick Woltemade (2.65), Mohammed Salah (2.37) and any Tottenham player.

Spurs’ best-performer for xG in the 2025-26 Premier League has been Richarlison, but he’s over-performing his 1.68 xG with three goals scored.

Of course, Moyes’ side does have some dangerous players in Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye but there’s no doubt Frank – and Vicario – will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing Beto or Barry if they play up front for the Toffees.

What a Guglielmo Vicario’s Premier League stats?

A lot has been said about Vicario’s performance in Monaco this week, but his Premier League numbers show a similar story, despite what fans have said about the Italian.

He currently ranks fourth in the league for saves made (24), joint fourth for clean sheets (3), and fourth for Sofascore rating (7.25).

The Tottenham number one has also been handy with the ball at his feet, as only Jordan Pickford (311) has completed more passes than Vicario (298) this term.

As per FotMob, Vicario has prevented 1.8 goals, which ranks him third.

Statistically speaking, there’s little doubt that Vicario is one of the best three or four goalkeepers in the Premier League this season.

Beto and Barry will be praying their goalscoring woes are fixed this weekend against Spurs but based on the numbers, they might as well wait another week before getting any hopes up.
