Thomas Frank gets it wrong again after latest Tottenham leadership announcement

Thomas Frank’s honeymoon period at Tottenham appears to be over after recent developments.

When the Lilywhites met PSG in the Champions League, there was cause for optimism, given the energy that his team showed against Europe’s best.

However, fast-forward just over a month and Spurs’ spineless draw with Bodo/Glimt was the latest worrying performance during Frank’s era.

With every one of his decisions set to come under scrutiny, questions must be asked of his most recent call.

Thomas Frank includes Guglielmo Vicaro in leadership group

Frank took a gamble in resting Mohammed Kudus against Bodo/Glimt, and it was a decision that backfired.

Indeed, the Dane is having to learn fast and is finding out that his squad is perhaps not as strong as he first thought.

One player who has continued to make mistakes is Vicario, who has made two critical errors in his last two Premier League appearances.

The Italian flapped at Yasin Ayari’s long-range effort at the Amex Stadium before parrying a corner onto Joao Palhinha, leading to Wolves’ goal.

Now, Tottenham have announced on 3 October that Vicario is part of Spurs’ leadership group, alongside Micky Van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, and James Maddison.

While the 28-year-old does have a presence on the pitch, he is becoming a problem in North London and should be swept aside for an upgrade.

Pedro Porro a strange omission from Tottenham leadership group

Porro captained Spurs against Doncaster Rovers in a team that was lacking in natural leaders.

While Frank’s decision to captain the Spain international may have suggested that he would be a core part of the leadership group, it seems not.

The full-back has been a key member of the Lilywhites squad since he joined, with his attacking exploits garnering more praise than his defence.

However, the 26-year-old is surely a part of Frank’s long-term plans and therefore should have been given a role instead of Vicario.

Although Porro may not admit it, on the inside, he will surely be questioning his head coach’s decision.
