Supercomputer predicts result of Burnley vs Tottenham in Premier League showdown

Tottenham are back in Premier League action when they travel to Burnley on Saturday.

Tottenham are flying in the Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Tuesday, but they need to start performing in the top flight rather quickly.

Thomas Frank is under severe pressure as fans continue to voice their discontent, and every poor result could now lead to his sacking.

Spurs go into Saturday’s clash at Turf Moor sitting 14th in the Premier League table, and their hopes of achieving Champions League football next season are becoming increasingly slim.

Tottenham beat Burnley 3-0 on the opening weekend of the season, and it’s imperative that Frank manages to secure the league double over Scott Parker’s men.

Tottenham strong favourites to beat Burnley

The Clarets come into the match on a 13-match winless run in the top flight, and Parker’s side look destined for relegation.

Although they sit in 19th place, Burnley did secure a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield in their last game.

According to Opta, Spurs are set to win all three points on the road.

What’s even better for Frank is Tottenham‘s impressive record against Burnley in the past.

Burnley have lost six of their last seven Premier League games against Spurs, including each of the last four in a row since a 1-0 home win in February 2022.

Tottenham are also unbeaten in their last 13 Premier League away games against promoted sides since losing 3-1 to Leeds in May 2021.

Spurs have averaged 2.2 goals per game in the Premier League against Burnley (41 goals in 19 games), only averaging more against Hull City among sides they’ve faced 10+ times (2.3).

While the stats point to a Tottenham win, it’s much easier said than done, and Pedro Porro’s impressive form could be the key to unlocking Burnley’s defence.

Pedro Porro is Tottenham’s biggest attacking threat

Porro has played more passes into the box (180) and delivered more open play crosses (113) than any other player in the Premier League this season.

The Spaniard has also created the most chances among defenders (32) and could cause problems for Burnley left wing-back Lucas Pires.

With Dominic Solanke now fit, Porro has a target man that he can aim for in the box, and Frank’s style of play may become more effective.

No team has scored more headed goals (nine), more goals from corners (11), or more goals via defenders (seven) than Tottenham in the Premier League this season.

Burnley have a huge task in stopping Spurs from out wide, and Porro’s influence on the match could prove crucial to the outcome.
