‘Solanke could get Postecoglou sacked’ with Tottenham showing v Southampton

Dominic Solanke could have a negative impact on Ange Postecoglou’s job at Tottenham against Southampton on Sunday.

The Lilywhites are preparing to welcome Ivan Juric’s side to North London on 6 April off the back of a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea.

An Enzo Fernandez goal proved to be the difference as Spurs sunk to 16th in the Premier League as pressure continued to pile on the N17 outfit.

With the clash against the Saints fast approaching, it could ultimately be Solanke who causes Postecoglou to be sacked.

Solanke could struggle again for Tottenham v Southampton

The 27-year-old record signing has had far from a dream first season at Spurs, featuring just 21 times in the Premier League due to injury.

Despite starting against Chelsea last time out, his struggles continued as the three-time England international failed to have any sort of impact.

This saw him have the least touches of anyone on the pitch to have played for 90 minutes with just 21 while also registering just six passes [FotMob].

As a result, it is little surprise that the former Bournemouth man failed to create a single chance or have a shot on goal which is far from good enough.

The striker even failed to impose himself physically as he lost five duels in a 50 per cent win rate.

Just one touch inside the Chelsea penalty area while also being caught offside once sums up his performance at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs need to be able to rely on Solanke but if he performs in the same manner against Southampton, Postecoglou’s job will certainly be on the line.

Postecoglou could face sack after Southampton clash

There is every chance that Daniel Levy could be on the verge of sacking the Australian in North London.

The Lilywhites are preparing to face one of the worst teams in Premier League history, and ultimately, a defeat would be unforgivable.

The likes of Son Heung-min need to step up but it is the lack of impact from Solanke up front which could prove to be highly damaging.

Postecoglou is feeling the pressure, as shown by his bitter comments at Chelsea, and that will only get worse against the Saints if the result isn’t what fans expect.
