Postecoglou to axe Romero – Tottenham predicted XI v West Ham

Tottenham face the small matter of a London derby at West Ham ahead of their trip to Norway.

Ange Postecoglou’s side beat Bodø/Glimt 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May) in the first leg of the two clubs’ UEFA Europa League semi-final.

Tottenham were dealt a huge Lucas Bergvall injury blow ahead of kick-off. However, the Lilywhites didn’t let this impact them and got off to a fast start as Brennan Johnson opened the scoring inside the first minute.

James Maddison and Dominic Solanke added the second and third for Tottenham. However, a late Bodø/Glimt goal leaves the semi-final hanging in the balance ahead of the second leg at Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday (8 May).

As a result, with nothing left to play for in the Premier League, Postecoglou is likely to make wholesale changes against West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday (4 May).

Postecoglou to make eight changes v West Ham

Guglielmo Vicario had a quiet night against Bodø/Glimt, with the Norwegian outfit managing just three shots in North London [Sofascore], and will expect to keep his place between the sticks on Sunday.

However, in defence, Postecoglou is likely to make three changes.

Ben Davies could come in for Micky van de Ven, who won 100 per cent of his aerial duels and completed 96 per cent of his passes on Thursday, while Kevin Danso replaces Cristian Romero, who enraged Ally McCoist after one moment in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Destiny Udogie could be replaced by Djed Spence while Pedro Porro keeps his place against the Hammers after grabbing an assist and playing four key passes against Bodø/Glimt.

In midfield, Postecoglou is likely to make wholesale changes. Maddison was the star on Thursday, scoring Spurs’ second and completing 93 per cent of his passes. However, the Englishman left the pitch in some discomfort and is unlikely to be risked against West Ham, with Dejan Kulusevski likely to replace him as the Swede looks to build match fitness.

As for Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma, they are likely to be replaced by Pape Matar Sarr and Archie Gray, with Bergvall unavailable.

Postecoglou to rest Solanke v West Ham

Just like Maddison, Solanke left the pitch with a knock after scoring and completing 80 per cent of his passes against Bodø/Glimt.

Therefore, Richarlison is likely to keep his place and start through the middle, which could see Mathys Tel come in on the left while Wilson Odobert takes Johnson’s place on the right.
