Postecoglou to axe Johnson – Tottenham predicted XI v Bodø/Glimt

Ange Postecoglou is likely to make five changes when Tottenham take on Bodø/Glimt.

Postecoglou did something no Tottenham manager has ever done as he made wholesale changes against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday (27 April), with the Reds thrashing Spurs 5-1 to clinch the Premier League title.

As a result, it is clear that the entire focus is on the UEFA Europa League, with Spurs set to host Bodø/Glimt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May) in the first leg of the two clubs’ semi-final showdown.

And Postecoglou is likely to once again make wholesale changes for the season-defining clash.

Postecoglou to axe Spence in five changes v Bodø/Glimt

Guglielmo Vicario had an afternoon to forget for Tottenham against Liverpool as the Italian completed just 66 per cent of his passes and made one error leading to a shot [Sofascore].

However, the goalkeeper is likely to keep his place, while plenty of changes are made in front of him.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven will be expected to replace Ben Davies and Kevin Danso, while Pedro Porro comes in for Djed Spence at right-back.

Spence had an awful afternoon against Arne Slot’s side, winning just one of his eight ground duels and completing just 59 per cent of his passes. As a result, he is likely to be the full-back to make way, while Destiny Udogie keeps his place at left-back despite scoring an own goal against Liverpool.

In midfield, James Maddison should keep his place despite being hooked at half-time on Merseyside, after providing an assist and playing two key passes in the first half.

Archie Gray was also replaced at the break against Liverpool after failing his midfield audition miserably, and could be replaced by Rodrigo Bentancur.

Finally, Lucas Bergvall is likely to complete the midfield three despite the Swede struggling at Anfield as he failed to provide an accurate cross from three attempts, with Gary Neville slamming the 19-year-old after one incident.

Postecoglou to axe Johnson

In attack, Mathys Tel is likely to keep his place on the left amid doubts over Son Heung-min’s fitness. Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke should also keep his place up front after scoring against his former club.

However, the attack won’t be unchanged, with Dejan Kulusevski likely to replace Brennan Johnson after the Welshman completed just 45 per cent of his passes, succeeded with zero per cent of his attempted dribbles and won just one of his four ground duels.
