Postecoglou delivers injury update on Tottenham duo Solanke and Maddison

Ange Postecoglou has delivered injury updates on Tottenham duo Dominic Solanke and James Maddison ahead of the trip to West Ham.

While Spurs will take on the Hammers in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Sunday (4 May), Postecoglou and his players’ full focus is no doubt on the UEFA Europa League.

The Lilywhites beat Bodø/Glimt 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (1 May) in the first leg of the two clubs’ semi-final showdown.

However, supporters are likely to have been left concerned after goalscorers Solanke and Maddison were both forced off with injuries in North London.

Postecoglou shares concerning Maddison update

Spurs were dealt a big Lucas Bergvall injury blow ahead of kick-off against Bodø/Glimt.

However, they were still able to get the job done on the night, although the absence of Solanke and Maddison would certainly make things much trickier in Norway on Thursday (8 May).

Tottenham will play Bodø/Glimt for a place in the Europa League final

As per Sofascore, Maddison was one of Spurs’ best players in the first leg against Bodø/Glimt, with the midfielder scoring the second on the night while also completing 93 per cent of his passes, with two of those key.

Meanwhile, although Solanke did win just three of his eight duels and failed with his one dribble attempt, the striker still made an impact as he scored Spurs’ third from the penalty spot.

Therefore, supporters will be devastated after the latest injury news on Maddison, although there is a bit more optimism around Solanke.

Speaking ahead of the trip to the London Stadium, where Postecoglou is expected to make eight Tottenham changes, the Australian said, “Solanke’s injury is not too bad, obviously a doubt for the weekend. Maddison is a bit more of a concern as it’s a knee, we’ve sent him for a scan.”

Postecoglou needs Maddison available

If Maddison is ruled out for the second leg of the Europa League semi-final, that would be a huge blow.

With Bergvall already unavailable, it would leave Postecoglou extremely short of options in midfield. Therefore, the 59-year-old will be keeping his fingers crossed when awaiting the results of Maddison’s scan.
