Pedro Porro axed in two changes from Brighton defeat – Tottenham predicted XI vs Wolves

Pedro Porro could be set for a surprise omission from the Tottenham team to face Wolves on Saturday night.

The Lilywhites are aiming to continue their impressive start to the new Premier League season, and could potentially go second in the table with a victory.

Tottenham breezed past Doncaster in the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday night, in what was a welcome opportunity to hand minutes to some of the players on the fringes of the squad.

Thomas Frank will surely be turning back towards his first-choice options for this weekend’s clash, and with that in mind, Tottenham News predicts the XI that will line up against Vitor Pereira’s visitors.

Pedro Porro rested for Tottenham as Xavi Simons starts

Mohammed Kudus was excellent for Tottenham in their 2-2 draw with Brighton on their last Premier League outing, and he is one of several players who are surely destined to return to the starting XI this weekend.

However, there could still be a couple of notable changes from the group that lined up from the start at the Amex Stadium.

Porro was a surprise inclusion from the start against Doncaster, but he could finally be about to drop to the bench for Saturday’s encounter.

He has been an excellent performer for Spurs so far this season, having completed 75% of his passes and ranking second in the team for both key passes and interceptions, but he is badly in need of a rest.

The Spain international has missed just 20 minutes of competitive football all season for Spurs, and many expected him to be given the night off in the cup in midweek.

The opportunity to rest the 26-year-old could now be taken against Wolves, given that the Lilywhites face an important Champions League trip to Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday night.

That could see Djed Spence revert to his more natural right-back position, with Destiny Udogie manning the left flank.

Elsewhere in the side, Xavi Simons is likely to come back in from the off, with Wilson Odobert set to drop to the bench after starting against Brighton.

Richarlison has huge opportunity vs Wolves

Tottenham will be without Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani for Saturday’s game, with the pair still sidelined through injury.

As a result, the responsibility to lead the line will once again fall to Richarlison, and he has another huge opportunity in front of him to cement his place in the team even further.

The Brazilian has had a bright start to the season, and already has the chance to equal his Premier League goal tally from last season if he finds the back of the net against Wolves.

Fitness issues have prevented Frank from using either of his other two options so far, but if Richarlison sustains his good form, then the boss will be hard pushed to drop him, even when Solanke and Kolo Muani return.
