Pape Matar Sarr proves point with what happened in Tottenham draw v Fulham

Pape Matar Sarr proved that he should be a regular starter as he stood out for Tottenham in the 1-1 with Fulham on Sunday.

The Lilywhites were pegged back by Tom Cairney after Brennan Johnson opened the scoring at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 1 December.

Despite the disappointing result, the Senegal midfielder was a constant ball-winning presence in the Spurs midfield before he was substituted in the 85th minute and should be given more starting opportunities.

The midfielder has impressed when he has featured for the Lilywhites this season, producing great performances fairly consistently.

He has made 13 appearances with just six starting berths in the Premier League this season, notching two assists, but there has been speculation about his future at Spurs.

In the draw on Sunday, the 22-year-old recorded an 84 per cent passing accuracy, only misplacing seven of his 44 attempted passes, while he made eight passes into thee final third and had one touch in the opposition box [Fotmob].

Defensively, he won two of his three attempted tackles for a 67 per cent success rate, made a staggering 13 recoveries and was dribbled past just once.

In terms of duels, he had a 67 per cent success rate on the ground, winning four of the six he attempted and in the air he won 50 per cent of the two he attempted.

Sarr is going from strength to strength under Postecoglou and could become Spurs’ next superstar if they allow him to start more consistently.
