Micky van de Ven to miss out, Tel starts – Tottenham predicted XI v Liverpool
Ange Postecoglou could be without Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven against Liverpool.
Spurs will travel to Anfield on Thursday (6 February) to play for a place in the Carabao Cup final.
Postecoglou has been dealt yet another serious injury blow ahead of the clash, with Radu Drăgușin ruled out for the remainder of the season [via Jack Pitt-Brooke, 3 February].
Therefore, it looks as though selecting his defence could prove difficult, while further forward Mikey Moore is expected to be axed after his naive display in the 2-0 Premier League win against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday (2 February), which could open the door for Mathys Tel to make his debut for the club.
Micky van de Ven to miss out for Tottenham v Liverpool?
Antonín Kinský will expect to keep his place between the sticks after making three saves, all from inside the penalty area, and keeping a clean sheet against the Bees on Sunday [Sofascore].
Pedro Porro and Djed Spence will likely keep their places against Liverpool. Spence shone in West London on Sunday, making four tackles and succeeding with 100 per cent of his dribble attempts while also making a clearance off the line.
At centre-back, Postecoglou could have some difficult decisions to make. Kevin Danso is likely to come in for his debut, while Micky van de Ven looks set to miss out, which could see Ben Davies keep his place in the side, as Postecoglou opts for the more experienced option between the Welshman and Archie Gray.
Van de Ven missed the clash with Brentford, and when asked if there were any updates on the Dutchman, reliable Spurs insider Paul O Keefe said via X (4 February), “Not yet”, which will no doubt have concerned supporters.
In midfield, Postecoglou is likely to stick by Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma. Bentancur played three key passes, succeeded with 100 per cent of his dribble attempts and won 100 per cent of his aerial duels against Brentford, while Bissouma completed 91 per cent of his passes, with one of those key.
Dejan Kulusevski will still expect to complete the midfield three, despite not having his best game at the Gtech Community Stadium as the Swede completed just 81 per cent of his passes and failed to hit the target with any of his four shots.
Mathys Tel to make Tottenham debut v Liverpool?
Tel could join Danso in making his debut for Tottenham against Liverpool after signing for the club on Deadline Day, with the Frenchman in line to replace Moore.

That would see Richarlison and Son Heung-min keep their places, with the latter providing an assist against Brentford.
In other Tottenham news, loan fee details of Tel’s move to the club have emerged.
