Luka Vuskovic faces second loan spell away from Tottenham as worrying numbers emerge

Tottenham won’t like what they will hear about Luka Vuskovic’s most recent game on loan at Hamburger SV.

Centre-back Vuskovic is highly rated at Tottenham, as a clear plan has been laid out for the 18-year-old to return to N17 ready to compete for a starting place.

Tottenham signed Vuskovic from Croatian side Hajduk Split in the summer, beating multiple clubs for the defender’s signature.

So far, while on loan in Germany, Vuskovic has impressed, but Tottenham will now be hoping developments in Hamburg’s recent game are nothing but a single blip for the centre-back.

Luka Vuskovic conceded four goals at Hamburger SV

Tottenham fans have raved about Vuskovic, as he could be a direct replacement for Cristian Romero, with the latter coming to the back end of his playing career.

Vuskovic scored for Tottenham in a pre-season game against Reading, where he also provided an assist in the 2-0 win, looking like the best player on the field.

However, Vuskovic was part of a 4-1 battering at the hands of FC Koln in the Bundesliga on Sunday, as his stats from the game may shut down fan excitement on the young man.

The Croatian was at the centre of a five at the back formation played by Hamburg, as Vuskovic only managed to win 25 per cent of his ground duels.

However, Vuskovic did still manage a respectable 7.2 rating, but his underlying stats may suggest that one loan may not be enough for the starlet.

Vuskovic will need a minimum of two loans

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero look like the centre-back partnership that could stay at Tottenham for the next two to three years.

Kevin Danso is also emerging as a reliable player, as age doesn’t favour Vuskovic’s chances of breaking into Tottenham’s first team anytime soon.

Ideally, Vuskovic will keep up his form, as reports from Germany have been largely positive for the Tottenham loanee, but Thomas Frank will be hoping that his most recent game is just a one-off.

The way things are looking points towards Vuskovic seeing a second loan away from Tottenham at the start of the 2026-27 season, as he will most likely break into the Lilywhites’ team in a couple of years yet.
