Rio Ferdinand blown away by Bergvall after what happened in Arsenal v Tottenham
Rio Ferdinand was blown away by Lucas Bergvall for Tottenham despite their North London derby defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday.
Tottenham suffered another defeat on 15 January, this time at the hands of rivals Arsenal, with the pressure constantly growing on Ange Postecoglou.
The defeat means Spurs are 13th in the Premier League and showing no real signs of improvement, although the performance of Bergvall showed promise, with Ferdinand lauding the teenager live on TNT Sports [15 January].
Ferdinand said: “It’s not just the way he travels, but it’s the speed at which he travels.”
Ferdinand went on to jokingly claim that he would be enquiring about what happened at Manchester United to cause them to lose out on his signing.
Lucas Bergvall shines despite Tottenham loss
Trying to find any positives from the current season has been a struggle for Tottenham, but Bergvall has certainly been one of them and that was on show against Arsenal.
According to FotMob, the young Swede recorded a 90 per cent pass accuracy from 40 attempted passes, with one chance created.
Bergvall completed 67 per cent of his attempted dribbles, with a total of 65 touches in the game before being taken off.
Defensively, Bergvall contributed plenty having won four tackles in the game – the most out of anyone on the pitch – while also recording an impressive 71 per cent win rate in his 14 defensive ground duels. Again, the most of anyone on the pitch.

Quite remarkably, the 18-year-old made 15 defensive actions in the game, with the hosts largely dominating proceedings.
There is very little more Bergvall can do to aid the results for Tottenham, but the very fact that an 18-year-old is running the show speaks volumes about the current situation.
