James Maddison spot on with Wilson Odobert assessment as Thomas Frank left with Tottenham decision
Wilson Odobert’s introduction to the game made all the difference in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Man United.
Tottenham’s dreadful first-half performance led to Thomas Frank bringing on the 20-year-old for Randal Kolo Muani.
After Bryan Mbuemo’s 32nd-minute header left Spurs devoid of any ideas, Mathys Tel brilliantly finished a shot on the turn to level the scores.
Odobert then struck a curling effort goalwards, which was brilliantly headed home by Richarlison in the 91st minute.
Despite Matthijs de Ligt’s last-gasp equaliser, none of the praise should be taken off Odobert’s influence on the match.

Wilson Odobert faultless vs Man United
Richarlison struggled on the left wing, and it was a matter of time before Odobert would be called upon to be more direct against Man United’s right-hand side.
The French winger was lively throughout, taking on Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo with ease.
Odobert completed 100 per cent of his passes, while winning all four of his ground duels.

Odobert joined Tottenham for £25m from Burnley in 2024, and he struggled with injuries throughout his first season under Ange Postecoglou.
Odobert’s first goal of the season came against Copenhagen in midweek, and with the busy Christmas period on the horizon, his fitness could be crucial to how Tottenham perform.
The 20-year-old has only made three starts in the top flight this season, with only 379 minutes of action under his belt.
It’s clear that he is staking his claim to start consistently for Tottenham, and based on Saturday’s match, it’s hard for Frank to ignore Odobert from now on.
Tottenham were expected to beat Man United ahead of the match, and whilst the draw will be incredibly disappointing, Odobert can take pride in what he produced at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
James Maddison reacts to Wilson Odobert’s performance
Odobert’s ball retention was brilliant last season, completing 84.9 per cent of his total passes.
Frank has rotated several options out on the left-hand side, yet Odobert has proven that he could be the solution after all.
The injured James Maddison watched on in the stands, and praised his teammate’s impact on the game on social media after the match as he posted: “Impact bro.”
Frank has a lot of work to do in Tottenham’s attack as they face difficulties in imposing themselves on opponents who sit back.
With Odobert’s help, the Danish manager could take his side to new levels when it comes to their performances this season.
