Dejan Kulusevski drops stinker in Tottenham clash v Burnley, Ange Postecoglou must react to ‘Nightmare’

Ange Postecoglou simply cannot ignore Dejan Kulusevski’s shocker of a performance as Tottenham beat Burnley 2-1 on Saturday 11 May.

The Whites fell behind to a Bruun Larsen strike in the first half, before Pedro Porro found an equaliser with a thunderbolt of a strike just seven minutes later. They then claimed all three points with a stunning strike by Micky Van de Ven, relegating Vincent Kompany’s side in the process.

A lot of players struggled to find their form over the 90 minutes, but one player in particular who stood out was the Sweden star who was fielded in his preferred wide position during the game.

His performance was in fact so bad that journalist Ryan Taylor labelled it a “nightmare” on his personal X account, claiming that his performances have “fallen off a cliff”.

Dejan Kulusevski a shadow of himself for Tottenham

If you were to ask Spurs fans about Kulusevski they would tell you his dribbling and creativity are his best attributes, while his work rate is always good going the other way too.

But according to Sofascore stats, he had an absolute horror show before being dragged off the pitch after 75 minutes, with the game still level and Postecoglou searching for a winner to keep the team’s hopes of Champions League football alive.

The 24-year-old completed just 11 of 17 pass attempts while on the pitch for a lowly 65% accuracy rate, while he also failed to complete a single dribble from three attempts for a 0% success rate.

Beyond that he also lost possession 20 times, won just four of 16 ground duels and lost both of his aerial duels also. It was an overall stinker of a performance.

Chances of getting to Europe’s premier competition next season are slim as it is, as the team must rely on Aston Villa dropping points elsewhere, but Postecoglou must also get all his decisions right and that means Kulusevski has to be dropped.

Richarlison and Timo Werner are unavailable for the rest of the season but there are other options in the squad, and they can’t do any better than he did against Burnley.
