Daniel Levy investment ‘bears fruit’ after what Tottenham ace did outside Spurs

Daniel Levy will be annoyed at himself if any of his Tottenham signings do not work out.

Tottenham have endured a difficult season under Ange Postecoglou as they sit 14th in the Premier League with nine games left while having also missed out on domestic cup competitions.

While Spurs’ hopes of success this season largely rely on winning the UEFA Europa League, Levy cannot be faulted for his signings as Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have mostly justified their price tags.

Even £12.5million signing Antonin Kinsky has impressed after joining the North London giants in the winter transfer window in the wake of Guglielmo Vicario’s injury.

Wilson Odobert springing to life at Tottenham

Wilson Odobert is perhaps the only player Tottenham have signed this season that has endured a difficult time there, with the attacker missing most of the season through injury.

However, the £25m signing from Burnley has been back in the fold recently and netted a brace in Spurs’ 3-1 win against AZ Alkmaar on 13 March, helping them qualify for the Europa League quarter-finals.

The attacker, therefore, appears to be finding his feet under Postecoglou and has also hit the ground running during international duty.

Odobert showed that he has sprung to life after putting an injury setback behind him by grabbing two assists in France Under-21s’ 5-3 victory over England on Friday, 21 March.

He enjoyed a fruitful 80 minutes of action before being substituted, while Gray was restricted to just 12 minutes off the bench for England and walked away disappointed after the defeat.

Odobert impresses in France v England

Starting on the left side of attack, Odobert provided the assists for two of Hugo Etikite’s three goals.

He had 31 touches of the ball and completed 19 of his 21 passes with 90 per cent accuracy [Sofascore]. It is worth noting that he created two goalscoring chances despite not being as involved as some of his teammates.

The 20-year-old did not shy away from taking his man on occasion, attempting three dribbles and completing one.

He also won one of the three ground duels he engaged in, although he was guilty of losing possession four times.

Therefore, Odobert is slowly starting to find his feet, meaning it is only a matter of time before he justifies the money Levy paid to sign him.

That is not to say the chairman is not guilty of providing Postecoglou with enough resources and players.
